Tokyo: Former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, the country's longest-serving PM, was shot on Friday from behind in the western region of Nara while delivering a public speech. Latest media reports said Abe showed no vital signs.
The Kyodo news agency reported that Abe sustained an injury to the right side of his neck due to a gunshot and was bleeding internally in his chest. Japan's PM Fumio Kishida said Abe’s condition was "severe" and he hopes the former leader will survive.
